No. It runs on torch batteries, so there is no plug point to install and no reason to lose hot water when the grid goes down. Batteries last roughly 12 to 18 months depending on how many showers the household gets through.
That independence is the main reason people choose it over a Rinnai. Keep a spare set of batteries in the kitchen drawer — when a Dewhot suddenly stops clicking, flat batteries are the first thing to check and the fix takes two minutes.
