Cadac Ecoflow Gas Geyser Installation in George — Affordable Gas Hot Water for Smaller Homes

The Cadac Ecoflow range is our most affordable installed gas hot water: the Cadac 12L Ecoflow from R11,000 supplied and installed — suitable for a granny flat — and the Cadac 16L Ecoflow from R12,200. Both are built for flats, granny flats and smaller homes rather than whole-house demand, and their low-flow start lights where softer water pressure leaves others hesitating. Cylinders, cage, cover and a flue where required are extras.

Who Is the Cadac 16L Best For?

Flats, granny flats, rental units, smaller homes and any setup running lower water pressure. If your hot water needs are simple — one bathroom, one person showering at a time — this unit does the job without you paying for capacity you will never use.

The right unit for

  • Flats and granny flats with one bathroom.
  • Rental units where the landlord needs reliable, affordable hot water.
  • Older Pacaltsdorp and Blanco plumbing with soft pressure.
  • Smaller homes where showers happen one after the other.
  • Households that want hot water straight through load shedding.

Not the right unit for

  • Large family homes with two busy bathrooms.
  • High-demand setups where a bath fills while someone showers.
  • Solar-inline work — it cannot handle preheated water.
  • Homes on mixer taps throughout with marginal pressure.

We will not sell you a Cadac as a whole-house premium solution. That is not what it is, and pretending otherwise just gets us both a call-out in July.

Cadac Eco 16 gas geyser supplied and installed by GasCraft George in George

How Much Does a Cadac 16L Cost Installed?

The 16L Ecoflow unit is R5,700 and installation starts from R6,500, so it comes in from R12,200 supplied and installed. The 12L Ecoflow unit is R4,500, from R11,000 supplied and installed. Cylinders, a cage, a cover and a flue where required are extras on both.

What's included

  • Supply of the Cadac 16L Ecoflow unit with warranty.
  • Gas line run from the cylinder position, secured and pressure-tested.
  • Plumbing connection and tie-in to the existing hot and cold lines.
  • Fitting of a weather cover where one is supplied — the cover itself is an extra.
  • Commissioning, testing and your Gas Certificate of Compliance.

What moves the price

Cylinders, a lockable gas cage where the cylinder stands somewhere public — common in complexes and rentals — the weather cover, a flue where one is required, and the distance from the cylinder to the geyser wall. None of those are included in the from-price. No electrical point is needed, which keeps the total down.

Will the Cadac Work with Low Water Pressure?

Yes — and this is the genuine reason to pick it. The Cadac has a low-flow start, meaning it fires at a lower flow rate than most units need. In a flat on an upper floor, or a house on older pipework where the pressure is soft, that difference is what stands between a hot shower and a geyser that never lights.

It is also the main reason we would choose a Cadac over a Dewhot in some homes. If the pressure test on the assessment comes back low, the more expensive unit is not automatically the better one — the one that actually ignites at your flow rate is. Our technicians measure rather than guess. If low pressure is your ongoing complaint, read up on common gas geyser problems first.

Cadac or Dewhot — Which Budget-Friendly Option?

Both are 16L, both run on batteries, and both need a weather cover. The Cadac is cheaper and handles low pressure better; the Dewhot is a step up in temperature control for a standard family home. Pick by house, not by price alone.

Can the Cadac Supply My Whole House?

Honestly? Probably not, if you mean a larger family home. A Cadac will run a flat, a granny flat or a smaller dwelling comfortably, and it will run a proper shower — but it is not built to keep two bathrooms and a kitchen going at once on a cold morning.

If that is your house, step up: the Dewhot 16L for a standard family home, the Rinnai 20L or Paloma 20L for whole-house demand. Buying the cheapest unit for a house that needs more is the one mistake that costs money twice.

Why Professional Installation Still Matters

The unit being affordable changes nothing about the gas. LPG installations must be done by a registered installer and certified on completion — that is the law, it is what your insurer expects, and it is what keeps the household safe.

  • Safety

Correct line sizing, proper leak testing, safe cylinder placement and adequate ventilation. Gas done wrong is dangerous in a way a leaking tap never is.

  • Compliance

An uncertified installation can void your insurance and will hold up a property sale. See gas compliance and safety inspections.

  • It works properly

A budget unit installed well outperforms a premium unit installed badly. Commissioning and testing at the taps is what turns a box on a wall into reliable hot water.

Cadac 16L FAQs

Yes. Cadac is a long-established South African gas brand and the 16L Eco is a practical, well-priced unit that does exactly what it claims. It is not a premium whole-house geyser and it is not sold as one. In a flat, a granny flat or a smaller home it is a sensible, dependable choice — parts are available, we know the unit well, and we fit them regularly across George.
