We ask what the unit is doing and usually know roughly what we are walking into before the bakkie leaves the workshop. GasCraft George was founded by Alan Torley, a registered domestic LPG practitioner with extensive hands-on experience in gas geyser installation, fault-finding and repair. Today, GasCraft George is being built around a trained team, proven systems and a commitment to professional, compliant workmanship.

Gas work is regulated for good reason. Working with registered gas practitioners means the pipework, ventilation, clearances and flueing are done to the standard, and that a Gas COC can legitimately be issued on the job.

Because a lot of the geysers we see are not dead — they have been written off. Someone looked at a unit that would not click, quoted a new installation, and moved on. A hospital diagnoses before it operates, and that is the order we work in too.
A geyser that will not ignite is often a flat set of batteries, a partially closed cylinder valve, a burner clogged with coastal grime, or a water filter blocked with grit off the municipal line. A unit that runs hot then cold is usually a flow problem, not a broken heat exchanger. Wind whipping across an unprotected wall in Herolds Bay will trip a unit that is otherwise perfectly healthy. None of that needs a new geyser.
Sometimes it genuinely is finished — a corroded exchanger, a rotted board on a Dewhot that spent three winters without a weather cover, spares no longer available for an unbranded import. Then we say so plainly and quote a replacement. What we do not do is reach for the new-unit quote first because it is the easier sale.
The other half of the hospital idea is follow-through. Some faults only show themselves once the family is back to normal usage — the third shower of the morning, or the first cold snap in June. If it comes back, we come back. One customer put it as “returned several times until it worked properly”, and that is a fair description of how a stubborn intermittent fault actually gets solved.
It also means we will tell you when you do not need us. If your problem is an empty cylinder or a solar system doing exactly what solar systems do in winter, you will hear that on the phone rather than after a callout fee.

Where We Work
George is home. From Pacaltsdorp we cover the whole town — the CBD, Blanco, Heather Park, Heatherlands, Conville, Loerie Park and Thembalethu — and then out along the Garden Route.
Herolds Bay is about ten minutes from the workshop. Wilderness and Glentana are short runs, Groot Brak a little further, and Sedgefield is the furthest place we still service as a matter of routine. The work changes shape as you move: estate homes wanting 20L whole-house units, holiday places that sit empty and then get hammered over December, and coastal installations where salt air decides how long a board lasts.
