Gas Hob Installation in George — Neat Work by a Registered Installer

Putting a built-in gas hob into your kitchen? GasCraft George handles the gas side — line, connection, leak testing and the Certificate of Compliance. we are a registered domestic LPG installer, and he works clean, because unlike a geyser on an outside wall this job is on display every day.

What Does Gas Hob Installation Include?

The gas work from the cylinder to the burner, plus seating the hob into the prepared opening. The countertop cutout itself is normally done by your kitchen installer or stone fitter — that is carpentry and stonework, not gas work — and we come in once the opening is ready.

  • Gas line connection

A correctly sized line run from the cylinder position, through or behind the cabinetry, to a shut-off point under the hob. Routed so it can be isolated and inspected later without pulling the kitchen apart.

  • Fitting and positioning

The hob is seated square into the opening, clamped down to the manufacturer's spec, sealed at the edge and levelled so pots sit flat and spills do not run into the cabinet below.

  • Regulator and cylinder setup

Correct regulator for the appliance, cylinders positioned outside to the required clearances, and a changeover fitted where two cylinders are used so you never lose the flame mid-cook.

  • Leak testing and burner checks

Full pressure test on the installation, every joint checked, then each burner lit and the flame picture confirmed. We test the flame-failure device on every burner, one at a time.

  • Certificate of Compliance

Issued when the work is signed off, along with a plain explanation of what it covers and where your isolation valve is.

Can You Connect a Gas Hob I Already Bought?

Yes, and it is how most of these jobs start. Somebody buys the hob with the kitchen, or picks a particular brand for the look, and needs a registered installer to connect it properly. Customer- supplied hobs get the same installation, testing and certificate as ones we supply.

What we confirm before fitting

That the hob is set up for LP gas and not natural gas, that the injectors are the right ones or that a conversion kit came in the box, that the supplied hose and fittings are approved and in date, and that the cabinet below has the clearance and ventilation the manufacturer asks for.

Working with your kitchen company

On renovations we happily coordinate. Give us a call before the cupboards go in and we will run the gas line at the right stage, then come back after the countertop is fitted to connect, pressure test and certify. Two short visits beats one messy one.

Do I Need a New Gas Line for My Hob?

It comes down to what gas you already have. A house with a gas geyser usually just needs a branch line extended into the kitchen. A house with no gas at all needs the full installation put in first — cylinders, regulator and pipework.

Existing gas installation

We extend from the existing line, add an isolation valve for the hob, and check the cylinder bank can carry the added demand. A 9kg cylinder that was fine for a geyser alone tends to empty far quicker once a hob is cooking on it every night, so a second cylinder on changeover is often the sensible add-on.

No gas yet

Then the hob job includes the installation behind it: a safe cylinder position with proper clearances, cage or brackets, regulator, and a line routed into the kitchen. Done once and sized sensibly, it also gives you the option of adding a gas geyser later without redoing the supply.

How Much Does Gas Hob Installation Cost?

Same honest answer as the stove: it depends on the gas line. Connecting into existing gas a metre or two away is a modest job. Running a new supply from an outside cylinder position through a finished kitchen is a bigger one, and the price should reflect that rather than a made-up flat rate.

  • Gas line requirement. Extension versus a full new installation is the single biggest factor in the quote.
  • Route and access. Running behind cupboards that are already installed, or through a tiled wall, takes longer than a clean run on a renovation site.
  • Cylinders and extras. Second cylinder with changeover, a lockable gas cage, or remedial work on an older installation we find while testing.

Gas Hob Installation Questions

Yes. A built-in hob is a fixed gas appliance, so the installation must be done by a registered gas practitioner and certified. The COC covers the cylinder position, the regulator, the line and the appliance connection as one installation. You will need it for a property sale, for most insurers, and for rental compliance. We issue yours on completion rather than sending it weeks later.
