Gas Geyser Services Across George and the Garden Route
GasCraft George is based at 40 Pioneer St in Pacaltsdorp, George, and services the broader Garden Route for gas geyser installations, repairs and compliance work. One workshop, one registered installer, and a service radius that stretches from Herolds Bay to Sedgefield.
We are not going to pretend to have branches in six towns. GasCraft George is a small local team working out of Pacaltsdorp, and the honest version is that we cover George properly and travel out along the coast to the places that are within a sensible drive.
What that means practically: most of George gets a same-day response when something has failed, and the outlying areas get scheduled quickly rather than instantly. If you are calling from Sedgefield with no hot water, we will tell you straight when we can be there.
George
George is the primary service area and where most of our week is spent. That covers the CBD, Pacaltsdorp, Blanco, Conville, Thembalethu, Heatherlands, Heather Park and Loerie Park.
The work here is the full mix. Blanco and Heather Park bring a steady run of electric-to-gas conversions on family homes that have had enough of tariff increases, usually landing on a Dewhot 16L or a Paloma 20L depending on how many bathrooms are in play. Around the CBD there are older flats and townhouse complexes where water pressure is the deciding factor and the Cadac 16L Ecoflow earns its keep. Pacaltsdorp is on our doorstep, so repairs there often happen within hours. Across all of George we also do a constant stream of Certificates of Compliance for property transfers.
Wilderness
About fifteen minutes from base along the N2. Wilderness is heavy on holiday homes and rental properties, which changes the kind of call we get.
A house that sits empty for weeks and then hosts eight people over December will expose a geyser that was marginally sized. We fit a lot of 20L units here for that reason, and we get called out to units that have sat unused through a damp winter and refuse to fire in the first week of the holidays. The humidity off the lagoon is also unkind to battery contacts and uncovered control boards, so weather protection comes up in nearly every quote.
Groot Brak (Great Brak River)
Roughly twenty minutes out. Groot Brak is a regular run for us, with a good mix of permanent residents and coastal getaway properties.
There is a lot of older gas equipment in Groot Brak — units installed years ago that have never had a service and are now on their second or third set of symptoms. Diagnosis work is the bulk of what we do here, and quite often the fix is a filter, a thermocouple or a regulator rather than a new geyser. Where a replacement is genuinely needed, the drive means we plan it as a single visit with the unit, the cylinders and the compliance paperwork all in the bakkie.
Herolds Bay
Ten minutes from the workshop and one of our quickest response areas. It is also the toughest environment we install into.
Herolds Bay is exposed — salt air and wind straight off the sea. Wind is a genuine technical factor here, not a footnote: unprotected units get their flame blown out and homeowners describe it as the geyser cutting out for no reason. We plan positions carefully, insist on weather boxes for the Dewhot and Cadac, and often steer people towards a Paloma or Rinnai where the budget allows because they need no cover. Corrosion on battery contacts is a routine repair call in this village.
Glentana
A short coastal run of about fifteen minutes. Glentana is a small, quiet area and most of our work there is on holiday properties and second homes.
Because these houses are often unoccupied, the owner is frequently not there when we work — so we do a lot of coordinating by WhatsApp, sending photos of the installation and the certificate through afterwards. Cylinder supply matters more here too: nobody wants to arrive for a long weekend and find an empty bottle, so we set several Glentana homes up on twin cylinders with a changeover.
Sedgefield
About thirty minutes east and the furthest place we service as a matter of routine. Still a normal service area — it just gets scheduled rather than squeezed in.
Sedgefield has a strong off-grid and solar streak, and that shapes the calls. Inline gas geysers behind solar systems come up more here than anywhere else on our map, which means Paloma and Rinnai units, since they are the only two that will take preheated water. We also see plenty of granny flats and garden cottages needing a compact unit, and a steady flow of COC requests when properties change hands.
