Gas Stove Installation in George — Safe, Compliant, Registered

Bought a new gas stove, or moving off electric because load shedding keeps killing supper? GasCraft George installs and connects freestanding gas stoves in George and the Garden Route — gas line, regulator, leak testing and your Certificate of Compliance in one visit.

What Does a Gas Stove Installation Include?

Everything between the cylinder outside and the burner in your kitchen. we run or extends the gas line, fits the correct regulator, connects and levels the stove, pressure tests the installation, and issues the COC before he leaves. One visit, one price, one certificate.

  • Gas line connection to the stove

Correctly sized copper run from the cylinder position to the appliance, with an isolation valve at the stove so you can shut it off without touching the cylinder. Where possible the line runs externally and enters behind the unit, which keeps it inspectable.

  • Regulator check or replacement

The regulator sets the pressure your burners see. We confirm the type and output suit the stove, replace tired or wrong-spec units, and fit a changeover if you are running two cylinders so you never lose the flame mid-cook.

  • Leak testing on the whole installation

The system is pressure tested and every joint is checked, not just the new ones. If the house already had gas, an old fault on the existing line shows up here — better now than later.

  • Safety checks and clearances

Ventilation in the kitchen, clearance to cupboards and combustibles, hose date and condition, secure cylinder placement outside, and a check that every burner's flame-failure device shuts the gas off when the flame goes out.

  • Certificate of Compliance

Issued on completion and explained, so you know exactly what is covered. Keep it with your house documents — the conveyancer will ask for it the day you sell.

Can You Connect a Gas Stove I Already Bought?

Yes. Most of the stoves we connect were bought by the homeowner at a retailer or carried across from a previous house. We connect customer-supplied stoves exactly the same way we connect ones we supply — same testing, same certificate.

What we check on your stove first

That it is built for LP gas rather than natural gas or piped town gas, that the injectors match, that the hose and fittings supplied in the box are approved and in date, and that the burners have flame-failure protection. Most modern stoves tick all of that. The occasional secondhand unit does not, and we would rather say so before it is bolted in than after.

Supply and install if you prefer

If you would rather buy the appliance through us, we source stoves from suppliers he actually deals with, so if something goes wrong there is a warranty route that does not involve you standing in a shop queue. Either way the installation, testing and COC are identical.

Do I Need a Gas Line Installed?

It depends what is already at your house. If you run a gas geyser, you probably have cylinders, a regulator and a line we can extend to the kitchen. If there is no gas at all, the stove job includes a new installation from the cylinder position inward.

You already have gas

Homes in Pacaltsdorp, Blanco and Heather Park with an existing gas geyser usually only need a branch line and an isolation valve. We do check that the existing cylinder bank can carry the extra demand — a single small cylinder feeding a 20L geyser and a four-plate stove will run down fast in winter, so we may recommend a second cylinder on changeover.

No gas in the house yet

Then the job is a full installation: cylinder position chosen for safe clearances and easy access, cage or brackets fitted, regulator installed, line run to the kitchen and the appliance connected. It is more work, but it also sets you up to add a geyser or a hob later without starting again.

Planning gas cooking and gas hot water at the same time? Read the gas geyser installations page — doing both together shares the cylinder bank and usually costs less than two separate visits.

How Much Does Gas Stove Installation Cost in George?

There is no single price, and anybody who gives you one over the phone without asking questions is guessing. The cost tracks three things: whether a new gas line is needed, how far the stove is from the cylinder position, and how complicated the route is.

  • New line or existing line. Extending existing gas is the cheapest scenario. A first-time installation includes cylinders, regulator, cage and pipework.
  • Distance and route. A kitchen on the same wall as the cylinders is quick. A kitchen on the far side of the house, or a run that has to be chased into brick, takes materials and hours.
  • Extras. Second cylinder and changeover, a gas cage for security, or bringing an old non-compliant installation up to standard while we are there.

Phone 071 551 2108, describe your kitchen and where the cylinders can stand, and we will give you a realistic range on the spot or come out and quote properly. The quote includes the COC — we do not add it at the end.

Gas Stove Installation Questions

Yes. Every fixed gas appliance in a South African home needs a Certificate of Compliance issued by a registered gas practitioner. For a stove that means the line, the regulator, the cylinder placement and the appliance connection all get checked and signed off together. You will need that certificate when you sell the house, when a tenant moves in, and if you ever have to claim. A registered gas practitioner issues it as part of the installation.
